Toshiba Debuts 3D Laptop without the Glasses

Toshiba has announced its release of a HP 590544-001 laptop prototype that loses the glasses, according to a Venturebeat report. So far, this technology has been missing from the market, with most viewers complaining about the cumbersome 3D glasses required for typical 3D technology. This latest electronic development should give Toshiba a considerable edge on the competition.

The company recently released the 590543-001 battery prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show. Toshiba uses the same design on the laptop that it uses on 3D TVs currently for sale in Japan. The models don't require special glasses to see images in 3D, allowing consumers to view 3D applications such as games, movies and other web effects.

In December, the company launched a 12 inch 3D TV that didn't require special glasses to see the 3D effect. The company plans to release a 40 inch version of the TV this spring. SONY VGP-BPS21A Laptop battery.

There is a catch, of course. Viewers must view the TV or laptop from a 40 degree angle in order to see the full 3D effect. Some seats on the couch will presumably be more 3D than others.

The notebook battery is scheduled for market debut sometime in 2011.

Protect Your Notebook Computer

Backup online with a service like Mozy.

If your DELL KM742 laptop is stolen, there's a good chance you'll never see it again. But writing down your model and serial numbers (they're probably on a plate or sticker on the bottom of the notebook) increases the odds that you will. Both Absolute Software and Tometa Software offer software/service combinations that may increase the odds even more. The hidden software they install onto your dell KM769 will report the laptop's physical location (or at least its IP address) when the laptop accesses the Dell P434 Internet. This information can help you track down your stolen computer.

There are several issues here. You want to prevent thieves from stealing your laptop. But if it's stolen despite your best measures, you still want to protect the dell WU841 data--both in the dell 312-0902 sense that you don't want to lose it and you don't want the thieves to access confidential information. Finally, you want to increase the odds of getting it back.

Let's start with preventing the theft in theDell Inspiron 14Z Battery place:

When traveling, keep the laptop in a case that protects it physically but doesn't look like a laptop case (see Caring for Your Laptop). A backpack should do the trick, but some type of bag I haven't mentioned in Dell N672K would probably be better.

Keep it either in your line of sight or in physical contact at all times. Put it in your lap or between your dell 312-0883 legs when sitting down and not using it.

When you're at home, secure it with a lock and cable. Most dell K903K have a security slot that a specially-made lock can clamp onto, and those locks come attached to cables you can put around tables and other unmovable objects. Both Kensington and SecurityKit.com offer selections of cables and locks.

When you're staying at a DELL JKVC5 Battery hotel, bring the laptop with you wherever you go. Or, if there's a safe in your room, put it in there. If neither of these solutions work, bring it to the front desk and ask if it can be put in the Dell Inspiron 1750 Battery hotel's safe. And if that's not an option, use the lock and cable.

Protecting What's On It

Even the most carefully-protected laptop may be stolen, so you need to protect your 9 Cell Dell Inspiron 1440 battery data. Most of your files will be of little use to criminals, but if there's something you'd rather they not get a hold of FPCBP226 (bank statements, corporate secrets, letters of transit), encrypt it. See Avoid Windows Encryption for ways to do this.

You may not want to give criminals access to your data, but neither do you want to lose it yourself. Keep an up-to-date backup--and a backup to your internal hard drive doesn't count. If you backup to an Lenovo 51J0499 Battery external hard drive, don't pack that drive in the FUJITSU FPCBP225 same bag as your laptop. In fact, when you're on the road, leave the backup drive at home, and carry copies of the files you'll need on this trip on a flash drive that you carry with you.

Toshiba Satellite A665-S6092 Laptop Performance

The placement of the A665’s ports is somewhat awkward. The Dell MT3HJ USB ports are located near the front edge of the side panels. If you are actually using the Dell U164P on your lap, whatever you put in the USB ports can get bumped or pressed. And if, like me, you want to use your favorite corded mouse the cord or the plug gets in the way pretty easily.

The power cord connector is also on side panel, instead of on the DELL N855P back. I found this awkward because it ends up making the laptop wider than it needs to be, and takes up space on your desktop. The power brick is pretty substantial, as needed to provide enough juice for that

DELL D837N H018N big screen and processor.

The included six-cell battery was good for about 2 hours of normal use. Toshiba does include its Eco Utility, with a dedicated Eco Button, that lets you view and monitor the power settings on your Dell XPS M1530 Battery
. You can choose high-performance mode when you need it, power-saver mode for the least energy consumption, or balanced mode which is a blend of the other two modes.

Even with a few minor annoyances, the Dell Studio 14z Battery is an excellent entertainment laptop. If you are looking for a laptop with decent power and a good set of built-in multimedia features, you will find it in the A665’s slim and stylish package.

Toshiba Satellite A665-S6092 Laptop Review

Pros:

Great entertainment and multimedia features

Large display and keyboard but doesn’t feel bulky

Very good display and audio

Cons:

Off-center keyboard is awkward

Port location can be inconvenient

The sony VGP-BPS9A/S

is at the higher end of Toshiba’s wide-ranging Satellite line, which includes the NB-series netbooks, C-series student models, L-series mainstream machines, and T-series ultraportables. The Sony VGP-BPS10 A-series and more compact M-series offer full-featured entertainment machines designed for multimedia and some gaming.

The Satellite A665 features a 16-inch screen, Harman/Kardon speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio, and a choice of Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs. I reviewed the Sony VGP-BPS13AS

, which packs an Intel Core i7-740QM, 4 GB of DDR3 memory, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics.

The IBM 40Y6799

offers Toshiba’s Sleep and Charge feature, which lets you charge a phone, MP3 player, or other device from the Sony VGP-BPS21

laptop’s USB port even while the computer is off. The HP DV6000 Battery

also offers Sleep and Music, which lets you play your iPod, MP3 player, or phone through the A665 speakers (via the mic jack) without booting up.

The A665 is a big machine, but Toshiba did a good job of keeping it from becoming too bulky. Despite its 16-inch display, the laptop is not too thick, and it doesn’t feel that heavy (although it weighs in at over 6.5 lbs). The machine looks sharp, with rounded edges. Although the laptop Dell Latitude D600 Battery

feels plastic-y, it doesn’t feel cheap. The acer laptop battery replacement features Toshiba’s Fusion X2 finish, with a nice grippy texture on the flat surfaces, and a smooth, glossy finish on the curves. Toshiba claims that Fusion X2 is “less prone to fingerprints,” but you can’t prove it by me. The 6 cell acer batterytest unit picked up more fingerprints than a CSI field technician.

Open up the A665 and you’ll notice that the 16-inch display fills the top shell. When the laptop is off, the screen looks like it will be too glossy. But when the computer is on the display is crisp and bright with minimal reflections. The 9 cell acer battery display resolution is OK at 1366 by 768 pixels. In the acer 5100 battery bezel above the display, Toshiba has included a decent webcam as well (although I found the on-screen pop-out controls for the webcam to be annoying).

The keyboard on the acer 5050 battery is a full-size, backlit, “island” style. This means that each key is separated from its neighbors by a small gap. The keys have a square profile, not slanted like most other keyboards. I found that this acer 3680 battery shape would occasionally snag my fingertips as I typed. I’m just an advanced hunt-and-peck typist, so perhaps real touch typists won’t have this issue.

Accountants and ASCII alt-code geeks will like the A665’s full-size number pad. This can be a desirable feature, but to make it fit Toshiba shifted the rest of the keyboard to the left. I found the acer um08a73 off-centered keyboard very distracting and occasionally uncomfortable because I had to bend my wrists at an odd angle. It just felt off that the acer um09e71 keyboard and my hands did not line up with the display.

There is a row of nice multimedia keys above the BATBL50L6 keyboard, and the entire keyboard is backlit. The Dell Vostro 3300 Battery touchpad has a backlit strip as well, which is useful in dim environments. I developed a love/hate relationship with the back lighting as it often seemed too harsh after a while.

The multi-touch touchpad works well and feels good. It has just the right amount of texture for a good feel, without dragging or feeling abrasive. There is only one set of touchpad buttons, however, located below the pad. The buttons are OK, but I’m a top-button kind of guy and I missed the 9 Cell Dell KY265 set of buttons often found on other laptops.

Sound quality was very good, especially for a dell KY477 battery . Toshiba included its usual Harman/Kardon audio system, with Dolby Advanced Audio. There’s the dell R822G battery usual built-in microphone plus a mic input and headphone output.

China Wholesale Inventories Rise 2.8 Percent in November

Many businesses embarked on a massive liquidation of inventories in early 2009 as they struggled to cope with a deep recession and plunging demand by keeping costs under control.

The swing from slashing inventories to rebuilding stockpiles has provided significant support to the recovery. Economists believe that for businesses to continue boosting inventories they will need to see further gains in sales.

That has been a concern as households, still fearful about high unemployment, have not boosted their purchases as much as they have in previous more normal rebounds.

The big jump in sales at China wholesale level in November reflected a 25.9 percent surge in demand for farm products including grains and livestock. That was the largest one-month rise since a record 27.6 percent increase in November 2009.

The ratio of inventories to sales was unchanged in Novemeber at 1.18, the same as September. That means it would take 1.18 months to deplete existing stockpiles at the November sales pace.

The Commerce Department reported Thursday that wholesale inventories rose 2.8 percent in November, a much larger gain than many economists were expecting. Sales jumped 2.2 percent, the biggest increase since March.wholesale jersey   wholesale laser pointer  50mw Green Laser Pointer  50mw Green Laser Adjustable Green Laser spy cameras hiden spy cameramini spy camera Watch Spy Camera wholesale soccer jersey The strong gains in both inventories and sales were encouraging signs that manufacturers will continue to see demand boosted by business efforts to restock depleted store shelves. Inventory rebuilding has been a key factor supporting the economy's efforts to recover from the 2008-2009 recession.

The 2.8 percent rise in November inventories followed an even larger 2.1 percent jump in September and pushed wholesale inventories to $427.1 billion, 9.9 percent above the level of a year ago.

Mobile Phone companies could be forced to collect 911 fees from consumers

Mobile Phone companies could soon be forced to collect a 911 fee from consumers and pass the cash along to the municipalities.

This comes as the province examines the merits of legislation that could help towns and cities pay for emergency dispatch centres.

Some wholesale cell phones already charge consumers a monthly 911 fee and some keep the profits. But the province is looking at forcing companies to pass those proceeds off.

"We're just exploring it at this point of whether in Alberta there's a need to access some of those fees to ensure some of those front line services are properly funded," said Donna Babchishin, Municipal Affairs spokesperson.

Currently, 911 fees charged on landline bills already go to municipalities. But there are some hiphone companies that don't currently charge consumers a 911 fee, so if a new law comes into effect, some mobile watch phones could escalate.

Telus said it dropped the 911 fee last year and doesn't want it to come back. The china cell phone company said it doesn't want to collect tax for municipalities.

There are six provinces that have already forced the change. Mayor Stephen Mandel believes it's time for Alberta to get on board.

"All of us need to put something into the safety and security of the city and it wouldn't hurt if china mobile phones companies could do that as well, so I think it's a good suggestion -- we'll see if they pass the law and if we get the money we'll find a way to spend it."

The china phone is lobbying for the change. It said Mobile Phone companies have been adding to their own pockets with these fees for too long and the province needs to step in and change that.

The decision could likely be months away. The tv mobile phone is now doing research on what other jurisdictions have done and why Ontario and B.C. have yet to go through the change.
