Can a tablet computer replace a laptop?

About a week into my experiment to replace a laptop battery with a tablet computer, I think I have a set of strategies that will make this work.
But work is the operative term.
Put simply, using a tablet is roughly twice as hard as using a laptop in most situations.
Much of this is because of the Android TOSHIBA PA3534U-1BRS Battery operating system, Google's system for running smartphones and tablets. For stand-alone devices that don't need to interact with computer networks (other than downloading information from the Internet), Android is fine.
But Android doesn't connect well with other computers.
A simple example for you -- uploading a photo to Movable Type, the Dell Studio 1535 AC Adapter software that Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer use for web posting. On my laptop, I simply click on an icon and a Java window pops up. I can click on a Dell Studio 15 AC Adapter link that says upload a new photo, and a file manager window pops up, allowing me to easily select the photo I need.
With the tablet, the Google browser that came with the Dell Studio 1737 AC Adapter system couldn't open a file manager window. Neither could the next three browsers that I tried. So I simply could not direct the software to find the photos that I knew were on the tablet.
Eventually, I discovered that Firefox did work. It even Dell Studio 1735 AC Adapter assumed that I wanted photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy Tab and suggested that folder.
Firefox isn't perfect. Like all of the other browsers tried, it Dell Studio 17 AC Adapter can't seem to work in the Rich Text Format that allows me to see my web posts in about the same form they'll appear online. Instead, I'm using a text editor that works but forces me to hand-code each line with HTML.
The next issue to solve was email. Away from the office, I can log into our system's email server through a virtual private network, but I generally don't.
The VPN is slow, especially when I'm dealing with Dell Latitude AC Adapter overtaxed WiFi networks at crowded press events. So I usually use a webmail system that allows me to check my mail through a browser.
And I couldn't find a single browser that worked with our Dell Vostro AC Adapter email systems. On a few, I could see my inbox, but I couldn't open the mail contained within.
My solution was to forward all of my notebook battery work email to a new gmail account (pdautowriter@gmail.com) where I can check it easily through the tablet.
The downside is that if someone emails me, the reply will come from a different address. It's not an ideal solution, but it works.
So I'm pretty sure I'll be able to deal with the basic issues of reporting from the field.
I'm also anticipating the next set of problems, and I'm pretty sure there won't be solutions to those.
At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, my Dell LA90PS0-00 AC Adapter big test for the tablet, the vast majority of press Dell pa-10 AC Adapter photos come on USB flash drives. It's easy to plug those into laptops and download images.
The Samsung tablet has no USB Dell PA-1900-02D AC Adapter connections, so I'll have to download the images I need Dell PA-1650-05D AC Adapter through company websites. That's usually not a problem, but with as many as 4,000 journalists attending the show this year, the servers that host those photos get bogged down quickly. Attempts in the past to Dell pa-21 AC Adapter download fresh photos on the day they're released has been hit or miss at best.
Some time this week or next, I'll test the press sites from the major automakers to see if I'll be able to log onto those or if they're going to have problems with the Android operating system.
I'll file updates as I have time.
